Who can submit?
Any currently enrolled SMU student can submit — no matter your major, year, or experience level. You don’t need to be in a media class or have prior publishing experience. If you have something to say, we want to hear it.
What kind of content can I submit?
We welcome original student work that reflects your voice, your interests, and your creativity. Examples include: Written stories (news, opinion, features); Photos or photo essays; Art or design pieces; Reviews, interviews, or “how-to” pieces; Personal stories or cultural perspectives! If you have a unique idea, pitch it!
Who reviews the submissions?
All submissions are reviewed and selected by SMU Faculty Advisors and SMU Student Media leaders, including editors and producers from our various outlets. Student leaders work collaboratively to make sure your work fits with our mission and is showcased in the best possible way.
Can my submission be rejected?
Yes — but only if it doesn’t align with our values or submission standards.
Submissions may not be accepted if they:
-Contain plagiarism or misinformation
-Include hate speech, bullying, or discriminatory content
-Are submitted in the wrong format or are incomplete
